“Though separated by a thousand li, we come together as if by destiny”—a HuaLian Canon Divergence Week fanevent!
An event exploring the “what if“ scenarios that could change the narrative of Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu), while keeping Hua Cheng and Xie Lian together.
What is a Canon Divergence event?
Inspired by the chengyu '有缘千里来相会', this event invites everyone to try their hands at making minor and/or major changes to the plot and have fun exploring the possible outcomes of the story with a „HuaLian endgame” in mind.
All works are appreciated and are welcome, including but not limited to fanart, fanfiction, fanedits, cosplay, photoshoots of dolls or other DIY creations.
How to take part in the event?
If you already have a hualian canon divergent idea in mind, you should go for it! Start creating and don't forget to post the final version during the event week in May.
However, we visualised some of the potential divergences that could serve as PROMPTS. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out through our retrosping.
We try to stick to our preference of keeping our events “hualian-only”, so we kindly ask you not to include any ships that break them, involve them in past relationships, unrequited love or polyamory, no matter the divergence.
Side characters and sideships are welcome as long as the focus remains on hualian.
An example: you can write a „Blackwater Arc fix-it“ fic, but it has to be from a hualian-perspective or written about how they navigate through the new plot.
All submissions must be your own, please refrain from plagiarising or reposting others' works and don't use AI.
We accept SFW (use: #HualianCanDiWeek) and NSFW (use: #HualianCanDiWeek18) contributions as well and we'll retweet both. However, we kindly ask you to use warnings, tags, and filters—especially when it comes to potentially triggering content, and we'd rather avoid tropes that are commonly associated with dead dove.
The roots represent the common tropes that can be associated with Canon Divergent AUs. The branches of the tree represent specific events in HuaLian’s story that can serve as points of divergence, but in the end, they're all part of the same HuaLian tree.No need to do all days, all prompts, and you can merge or ignore them to your heart’s content.
In terms of posting, this is a very casual event. All we’re asking from you is to post during the runtime of the event, between May 4 2024 and May 10 2024, according to your timezone.
